Twinsee is heavily based on Internet standards and open source software, in particular:

  • WebRTC for peer-to-peer high quality real-time video and audio communication (to be included in the HTML5 standard)
  • XMPP for instant messaging, contacts and presence management.

Twinsee on Android tablets was first demonstrated on June 27, 2012, live at Google IO 2012 in San Francisco, remotely from the twinlife office in Chatenay-Malabry (France). The WebRTC session was given by Justin Uberti, Technical Lead of the WebRTC effort at Google.
